I filled in the appropriate mta_  information...
I wasn't sure about the mta_auth however, I don't know what should go there exactly... so i left it blank

But it works!

Spectacular.

Once again - my BIGGEST thanks goes out to you -
You are THE MAN!

Hi.

I have a similar issue.
I have setup the email alerting and everything is fine, except the address of the email sender.

It is pandora@localhost

I tried to edit /etc/pandora/pandora_server.conf

mta_port 25
mta_user: monitoring
mta_pass: PASSWORD
mta_from: monitoring@MYDOMAIN

but I still get the email as pandora@localhost

Thanks for you help.

mta_port 25
mta_user monitoring
mta_pass PASSWORD
mta_from monitoring@MYDOMAIN

Hi,

I have some emails problems again. I have installed Pandora 3.0 FMS on Ubuntu 9.10.

The Alert is fired but the email is not sent.

/etc/pandora/pandora_server.conf

mta_address 10.5.1.26
mta_port 25
mta_user monitoring
mta_pass PASSWORD
mta_from monitoring@MYDOMAIN

/var/log/pandora/pandora_server.log
[ERROR] Sending email to mail@myserver.com with subject [RECOVER]FTP server down on server[x.x.x.x]

the same pandora_server.conf from the older Pandora server is working.

Did you check the configuration setting of the system and the email account you have. Maybe there’s an error regarding in the setting, like it has a conflict or incompatible in the setting. However, you can try to search in internet I think you can found some info that related in your problem.

I have to be honest, very confused.  I must be missing something.  If I send the following from the terminal (linux appliance install) logged in as root (only configured server user) it sends the email, no issues:
echo "test" | mail -s "test subject" MYemail@MYdomain.com

I've tried leaving the MTA settigns as default, no luck.  Configured for SMTP auth, no luck (using gmail and google apps accounts).  The template looks good (proper email destination).  I always see the following message in my console system log:
2011-03-01 22:34:23 linux-pandora [V1] [ERROR] Sending email to drewjohnson@webdrew.com with subject [PANDORA] Alert from agent NM-laptop-Down on module Host Alive
So, I went looking in /var/log/mail* and I can't find any logs for email - wierd - can't figure it out, as I'd like to determine *why* the mail send is failing.

Any help is greatly appreciated.  Thx - Drew
